Nate joined the Sand Point Community UMC as the Youth and Family Ministries Director the fall of 2008. Growing up in Redmond, Nate attended Redmond High School and graduated in 2003. Nate studied at Azusa Pacific University in California and discovered the call that God had for him in ministry. At Azusa, Nate earned a degree in Youth Ministry and minor in Psychology.

Following graduation, he became the Middle School Youth Minister at Mary, Queen of Peace in Sammamish. Nate has also worked in youth ministry with Faith United Methodist in Sammamish and Christ First Baptist in West Covina, California. In addition, Nate has been a keynote speaker to over 2,000 youth at a convention, trained hundreds of volunteers to be safe leaders with kids, and has planned and coordinated many service projects and mission trips.

During the summer of 2008, Nate, and his high school sweetheart, Kessia, were married.   Nate loves being active and getting out on the sunny days in Seattle. He loves to do anything active like frisbee, soccer, softball, or even go walking with his wife. He also enjoys board games, cooking, crafts, chess, video games, and has a soft spot for animals and Seattle sports (Even though the teams break his heart a lot!). Nate loves serving others through volunteering such as; Habitat for Humanity, Children’s Country Home, Eastside Baby Corner, Food Banks, Tent City and the 14 different mission trips that he has participated on and led.

Nate is very excited to be at Sand Point Community UMC! He hopes to get a chance to know everyone better and journey in faith together through all the wonderful things happening here at Sand Point.

Who We Are - a message from a member of SPCUMC
Sand Point Community United Methodist Church is a sacred space in the heart of View Ridge.  We serve the community by offering worship opportunities, the sacraments of baptism and communion with Jesus Christ, and weddings, memorial services, and special events celebrating the seasons of the Christian calendar. Our music program enhances our worship with outstanding organ and piano music, choir, bell choir and solo presentations, as well as Christmas and Lenten cantatas.

We offer many small group opportunities such as Bible study,  prayer meetings, Sunday evening vespers, church school and youth group activities, fellowship dinner groups, and a women’s circle.  We participate in Ecumenical and Interfaith services in Northeast Seattle, and give support to Sand Point Housing, Sharehouse, the Church of Mary Magdalene for Homeless women, the University Food Bank, and many other local needs.  We support our brothers and sisters around the world through our Methodist connections with emphasis in the Congo, the Philippines, and Central America.
Our building is a place to vote, a place where community leaders meet, the home of a preschool, and before and after school care, and where Alanon meets.

Family Ministry - we welcome your family!

What makes Sand Point Community UMC's Family Ministries special?  Well, here at Sand Point, Family Ministries focuses on our young families.  The ministries offered work to meet the concerns, needs, and desires that best serve young families - that includes kids and parents alike!
Our programs include Nursery care, Children's Sunday School, a Games Room and a Children's Corner for children to have a place to play, color, make crafts and eat snacks during fellowship time after Sunday morning worship.   Our Parents' Day/Night Out events, where we entertain the kids, provides a great chance for young parents to unwind together.   We are proud of our popular Vacation Bible School (every Summer), and feature a "Pinch Hitter" program, providing needed services for families facing major changes in their life.
Our goal is to enrich the spiritual lives of the families that come here.  Come find out in person what warm and wonderful feelings occur with Sand Point Family Ministries!

We invite our neighbors to join our friendly congregation.  We provide counseling services, and parenting helps for young families, and are open to all ages, persons of color, and persons with disabilities.  We provide effective pastoral leadership, and encourage lay participation in every facet of the church.    Our vision is to identify changing needs, and to plan and provide programs of nurture, education, outreach, and witness for everyone within the congregation and the community.  God’s love and Jesus’ compassion guide us in our faith journey.
